As Carolina Panthers fans we have to be wondering how long
it will take Cam Newton to get in sync with his new receiving unit. It is bad
In limited offseason workouts Cam Newton looked very rusty and had no timing with his receivers. Missing time due to his ankle surgery cost him the rapport he would normally gain with his teammates during off season workouts.
I think the Carolina Panthers will be a little flat in the passing game for at least the first regular season game or two. It is a good thing the team has a great defense and offensive coordinator Mike Shula loves the run game.
Kelvin Benjamin, Jason Avant, Jerricho Cotchery and Tiquan Underwood are all learning a new offense while also trying to get their timing down with Cam Newton. And for Benjamin its doubly difficult as he is a rookie wideout and they tend to struggle.
Luckily Cam Newton's game is not as based on timing and
accuracy as some NFL quarterbacks.
The most important thing for the Carolina Panthers offense to jell will be how the offensive line performs. The weak link of the entire team, the O line needs to step up their game. Good line play allows the Panthers to run the ball and control the clock as well as to protect Cam Newton in the passing game.
